PT-141 / Bremelanotide (melanocortin agonist)

PT-141, known by its developmental name bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic peptide modelled on alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (a-MSH). Unlike compounds that act on blood flow, it works centrally — in the brain — on the pathways tied to desire and arousal. It is one of the few peptides in this category to have completed late-stage clinical development; in 2019 it was approved in the United States (as Vyleesi) for a specific form of low sexual desire in premenopausal women.
