Kisspeptin-10
Kisspeptin-10 (KISS1 metabolite)
Kisspeptin-10 is a short signalling peptide — a ten amino-acid fragment of the larger kisspeptin protein encoded by the KISS1 gene. It sits at the very top of the body's reproductive hormone cascade, acting as the natural switch that tells the brain to begin the chain of events governing reproductive endocrine function. Discovered relatively recently, it has become one of the most studied peptides in reproductive science, with much of the human research led by groups at Imperial College London.
